Artist's Comments

A group of fellows in Germany, who were a bit dissatisfied with commercial downhill mountain bike rear hubs, decided to make their own. They posted some AutoCAD drawings online, as well as photos of their prototype, so I used them as a guide to create these parts. [link]

Modeled in Autodesk Inventor, rendered in 3D Studio Max with V-ray.

Very nice.

How is Autodesk Inventor, is it like AutoCAD (never touch either) or is it more like 3ds Max?

They are bolt on, in a sense. The axel is held captive by custom split carriers and pinch bolts on the swing arm. Very much like a motorcycle front axle.
