Artist's Comments

Based on concept art by Malaveldt : [link]

Mike has become my favorite conceptual artist lately. His ideas and art are very inspiring. I wrote him with a request to recreate some of his stuff in 3D and received his blessing, so here's another collaborative work.

This is another of his fantastic walking armor creations. While I'm unsure of the benefits of articulated legs, they sure look bad-ass.

Modeled 3D Studio MAX over a 3-day period. A lighting pass was rendered in Vray and a line art image was rendered using Illustrate 5.4 plugin for MAX. Colors, additional line work, camoflauge and stencils were added in Photoshop.

there will come a day when you'll feel like shit and you'll want to give up on this life and everything else, when that day arrives, save yourself some trouble and don't do a thing, just take a nap.

I would think an advantage would be the vertical climb such a 'walking' device would be capable of...

it would be rather slow however so it would need to have a 'crane trailer' nearby to 'swiftly' move it to another location... I'd see this as a '2nd line' defensive as it could 'crawl to an optimized location' and await an enemy -- I would suspect a dozen of these on a ridge would be fairly devastating to a mobile enemy infantry group.

That's sexy-awesome. I wish I had the patience and ability to model something detailed like that.

I'll also be sure to check out that artist, because the design is awesome.
