Vexel: Vector-Pixel hybrid.

A few submissions ago, a fellow deviant made a suggestion for a hood-up view of a tuner car. Hah! was my inital reaction. Way too detailed and way too much work. But the idea just sat there and mocked me, egging me on, so I went searching for proper references and found a well lit and interesting engine view. Here's the result!

Wheels, tires and interior bits were modeled in 3D studio MAX and toon rendered, then enhanced in Photoshop. The rest is pure Photoshop paths and paint accomplished with the pen tool and painting tools. Logos were done in .ai format and placed and transformed. Engine is all Photoshop shapes and tooned paint work. Engine compartment alone took a couple of days effort. I'm not sure if I'll ever do this again. My initial impression of being way too detailed and way too much work were right on the money.

My favorite part, interestingly enough is the underside of the hood. wierd huh?

Man, so awesome.

When I render a red car with just plain gloss paint, it ends up looking metallic as in my Altezza. Could you give it a look and see why it does? I sure can't figure it out.
