Impreza Vector by dangeruss Impreza Vector by dangeruss
A custom Subaru Impreza WRX. My second attempt at a vector stylized (cel-shaded) automotive render. All Photoshop - No vector drawing tools used. I think this one's better than my first try withthe Acura RSX - [link] The front end's a little busy, and I'm not 100% happy with that part, but I want to move on, so I'll call this one done.

Being A Fan of Impreza, You done really good job on this Baby.

Critique #1:
Especially for the HKS Stickers, this brings many HKS Enthusiastic Users to Fave this Such Art and Car. The headlights what brings me Highly Impressed !

Critique #2:
The rim somehow kinda fits the Impreza is because those rim as far as i know, i remember this rim went to rally or street racing somewhere.

Critique Final:
What a taste your bodykits is. If you make Wide Body Kits, It would Thrill a lot and a lot of Impreza Die Hard Fans or the Impreza's Divers.

Pros:
Best Effort,Perfect Body kit for Perfect Car,Rims is Great

Cons:
N/a

Improvements:
Wide Body Kits that has Greater Down force. (Optional)
Carbon Fiber Hoods or Carbon Fiber Wings.

Suggestion:
Try make Version 9, Because I'm a fan of
Impreza WRX STi Version IX.

Good grief, my favourite car in my favourite colour in one of my favourite media! I think I've died and gone to heaven.

...I can't stop looking and drooling...

Man. This has really brightened my day...the beautiful accuracy of every detail I could only imagine imitating, but with an almost 'cartoony' look vector lends itself to.

I really, really want one of these now. :+fav:

The sticker on the front windshield seems a bit off by a few degrees, or either you made an error resizing it, that is if you used the stretch and skewing technique to smash it then rotate it. Either way it looks good but if one were to look at it for more then a minute and really study it, it would become rather ugly quickly and bothersome. light distribustion on the front bumper looks off, the right side is too bright, it looks like it just got really bright all of a sudden. Bad comparison would be like how in some cartoons, one side would be all sunny then like an inch farther it would just be pouring rain. But in reality it either is gradually pouring then raining, then sprinkling, and then cloudy and sunny, meaning that maybe you should add like 2 more colors tones to the front bumper to make colors more graduated and more pleasent to look at. its just a suggestion.

front bumper does look really busy, some of the details, like on the side just before the fender begins seem like its not suppose to be there, the coloring isnt straight, so thats why it seems to me like it has a really odd structure, hm, didnt come out right, well it just doesnt look like its detail, seems like lines drawn on it only.

Very awesome work!! I am interested in how you did the car so... accurately!! Did you use any photos for reference? Was this based off any real car at all? (like for the mods and what not) I am working on a comic that rather prominently features various cars, and I am working on getting a good technique for drawing them! So, I am just really interested in how you achieved the look you did!

I utilized various photographic references for the basic view of the car and others for the wheels and aero bits. Essentially the base view is derived from the photo while the other mods are constructed (drawn) based on that perspective.

Totaly killer. I love the scoobies, and this one is another fav. I'm really starting to like the Morette style headlamps and these ones are pretty nice. Although I like the "bug eye" WRX's better, this one is still pretty damn cool. Awsome job!

First off - excellent work on this stylised automobile. Everything like that has been said before ;)

When you say "No vector drawing tools used" are you saying that you did not make use of the pen tool, which is classified as vector tool? The only other option that I can think of is using the brush tool which would be much, much harder. The cartoon feel is very well accomplished - the bold strong lines with the crisp outlines. The wheels are also particularly good, but I agree with you that the front end looks a little busy - I think it's because of the very dark blue you have chosen, which partially obscures viewing of the right headlight. The way you have done the interior is also very good - in keeping with this style, and at the same time saving yourself some work.

To my knowledge, there is actually a plug-in for 3DS Max (and Lightwave) which allows you to output your photorealistic work in this style, exportable as a vector which could produce very similar if not identical results to this without having to redo your work (although you would also hae to make the car) but for your existing scenes it could be quite useful. (It's found at [link] if you want it) Granted, it takes away the process of making it like this, but you can get similar results for less work if you want it.

Nice to see you working back on dA

More accurately, I meant that no vector applications i.e: Illustrator, Freehand, Corel DRAW etc were used. The outlines were produces with the pen tool and then stroking those paths with the painbrush. The coloring, and highlights were accomplished with typical paint techniques in Photoshop.

It's certailny possible to do cell-shaded effect in MAX, and several plug-ins are really good at it. But that's not as much fun, and it desn;t produce the same sense of accomplishment.

I like this much better than the previous piece. It seems to flow better. All compenents are of equal "realism". I disagree with the front end being too busy. I think it adds to the piece that it goes from high detail in the foreground to lesser in perspective. Excellent work!!--AG
