For those seeking advice:I get loads of people asking me how to prepare for a job or get started in the design and visualization business and / or what schools to attend. I wish I could be more helpful.
Something you need to understand is that I'm almost 51 years old. So, I have no contemporary schooling advice. All my formal schooling (late 70's early 80's) was completed well before PC's and digital art. I began my career with traditional media and all my digital skills are self taught. Therefore, I really have no idea in 2012, what the great digital art and design schools are and what the best path is for a young person interested in the trade. I'm not being a jerk, it's just that I'm not seeking a entry level job or looking for classes.
I will say that in this biz, it's more important what you can DO -vs- where you went to school. You can complete a curriculum and not learn a thing, and you can learn loads outside of a classroom. A strong portfolio speaks volumes. There are 15 year old

Writers, the Future is Here!The New Direction for Literature!
The volunteer literature gallery moderators have been sitting on this announcement for several months, and we finally have the green light from the dA administration to shine the spotlight on the future direction of the Literature Gallery!
May I present dAlta, "deviant Alternate literature & text arena", which will be an external site created solely for text-based deviations. No longer will our writers submit their poetry and prose to deviantART.com. Instead, everything will be posted to an external, affiliated sister-site called dAlta.
(Of course, we're hoping to shorten the acronym before the final launch that will appear with dA version 8. All suggestions are welcome in comments below.)

Walk around your house and be creative , find the unusual things and take a nice photo of them . Try to pay attention to focus, detail, originality and composition. And by the way, if you allow me to, this information from blogs is much more important than your personal opinion and rhetoric of the last your newspaper, on the merits of screensshots of video games, should be recognized or not by artistic merit.
Nevertheless, I can acknowledge your greater experience and academic knowledge in graphics and digital imaging area, I agree with you in some respects, but not in other aspects.
The appreciation of the artistic in all its variants, shown here in DeviantART, may be a perspective of objective and subjective character.
What I think is that a wide range of strength and success of DeviantART, is that they become accessible to the world, in many different works of art, to the general public, independently of whether they are specialists, curious, hobbyists, and public anonymous.
It is indeed the most important point that the DeviantART provides an invaluable service and homage to ART, is the awakening of motivation and interest, in layers of public disinterested, and people so faraway of the "World of Art" until then.
